Jewellery Care and Handling

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Dear jewellery is a precious collection, a daily essential for all jewellery lovers. If you wish your gems, crystal, pearls, silver to remain sparkle and become the admiration and attraction among your friends and colleagues, do not fail to protect and cherish them. In order for the lovely piece to last, it is worth being properly taken care of. The following are some care & handling tips that we offer to you.

  • Remove your jewellery once you are at home.
  • Clean the jewellery with a dry cloth unless otherwise as advised on the care instruction stated by the jewellery seller.
  • Keep all your jewellery in an airtight container or zip lock bag if possible, else a closed jewellery box is advisable.
  • Never leave/store your jewellery in the bathroom especially silver jewellery as metals and some gems are afraid of damp.
  • It is necessary to keep your jewellery away from heat and sunlight as they may make your jewellery loses its original color.
  • No-Tarnish Strips – put no-tarnish strips in with your jewelleries and change the strips every two to three months.
  • Chalk – another substitute of no-tarnish strips is Chalk.  Put a few pieces of chalkboard chalk in with your jewellery. The chalk works similarly to the strips, absorbing the airborne substances that cause tarnish. Chalk should also be changed every couple of months.
  • Silver Tarnish Cloth – wrap your jewellery with Silver Tarnish Cloth, also known as Pacific Cloth, which is available at any fabric stores.  It also works well too if you cut pieces of it to fit inside the drawers or compartment of your jewellery box.
  • Quick Wipedown – give each piece of jewellery a quick wipe with a Sunshine cloth or other jewelry cleaning/polishing cloth after wearing it. This will help remove dirt/things that settled on the surface of your jewellery while it was out of its closed storage, and this will help prevent tarnish from forming.

Is It Possible That Now Is The Time To Sell My Gold

Monday, January 4th, 2010

These tough economic times seem to suggest that it is time to get cracking and make some extra money so that we can make ends meet. With that in mind, most of us try to think of something that they have around their house that they can live without if they sell it to someone else. You may even be thinking, maybe I could sell my gold.

That may just be a brilliant plan since the price of gold has gone through the roof lately. In fact, the price of gold is actually higher than it has been in years. No one knows just how high that price will go or even when the price will begin to fall, so right now may be the best time for you to go ahead and clean out those drawers or baskets and find that gold that you have just collecting.

It may even be that you have located your old gold jewelry and are considering throwing it into the trash. You may have even thought that surely no one wants those old tangled chains that you know you won’t wear anymore. Or you might have some old watches that once held some sentimental value but now you are ready to let them go. Hold it! Don’t toss them yet! Ask yourself. Is it possible that I could sell my gold jewelry?

Of course you can. So go ahead and go through all those jewelry boxes, and drawers, and baskets or wherever you keep what you consider junk. Go through all of that jewelry and select the ones that you know that you can do without. Those are the ones that you will want to turn into cash that you can use for something for you or someone special.

This is where you answer the question you asked earlier. “Could I sell my gold?” You can sell your gold in a variety of places. You could take it to a local jeweler or a pawn shop and see if they are interested in purchasing it from you. Than again you might want to go online to see if you can find a buyer that will allow you to make the transaction right from your home.

I think that is just what I would do to sell my gold. I would go online and contact a few places that are listed there to see which one I would like to do business with. I would then check them out with the Better Business Bureau and decide on the one I wanted to work with. Most of the buyers will even send an envelope that will allow you to send your gold to them postage paid.

Sell Scrap Gold in a Tough Economy

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

With the economy in a state of shock and many looking for employment, selling scrap gold has never been more popular. After all it is a way to get rid of old jewellery, coins and other items that are no longer of use. Many people have jewellery boxes and drawers full of old gold that is doing nothing more than collecting dust. Now just about everyone has heard the advertisements and calls for those looking to sell scrap gold, but many wonder just how it works and if it can really help them make it through the financial strain that they have found themselves.

How Much Can I Get

The price of gold and silver fluctuates just like any other stock, product or investment. Of course it is best to wait and sell scrap gold when the prices are the highest, or when gold is in the greatest demand. The higher the price the more money that will arrive at your doorstep after sending in that gold kit! Now is an excellent time to sell your scrap gold because the payout rates have increased drastically over the past couple of years, however remember these rates can fluctuate on a daily basis. The amount that you will receive for the gold being sold depends on the weight and karat. Ounces are converted into grams, and at this time the going rate is approximately £ 646.439 British pounds for 1 ounce of pure gold. Remember those rates change and can vary, so check with www.Money4Gold.co.uk to learn more about the current rate!

Sell Scrap Gold; How It Works

Instead of a trip to the pawnshop, simply request an envelope or kit from the Money4Gold website and ship the unwanted gold back to them. There is no postage due to ship your gold, meaning that there is no money out of your pocket. Once Money4Gold receives the kit, their experts will sort, weigh and determine the amount of gold that is there. A check will then be mailed directly to you, without a long wait. It is much easier to ship it in than get a good price or even a pawnshop employee that understands the gold market and what your items are worth, not to mention the uncomfortable feeling of standing at the counter! It is easy to sell scrap gold and it can help get your hands on a few extra dollars for emergencies, Christmas or when you just need a little extra cash!

Remember other items such as gold fillings, watches, bracelets, scraps of gold, coins or any gold item that could earn you a bigger check! So take the time to go through those jewellery boxes and drawers, find what you no longer need and sell your scrap gold, for cash!

How to Display Your Necklaces

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Having had several years of experience in interior design, coupled with a passion for all things fashion, I’ve helped more than a few friends, sorority sisters and family members clean out and organize their closets and jewelry boxes. What’s frustrating to me is that I’ve found some really beautiful necklaces hidden away in drawers, tangled in a heaping mess or carelessly thrown around. These pieces are decorations in themselves, so I’ve come up with some creative ways to display these necklaces, even if you’re working with a small space.

On candy dishes – I love the look of necklaces laying out like dessert. Grab a simple 3-tiered candy dish and put it on your dresser or nightstand. Put delicate necklaces on top, add medium size beaded necklaces to the middle, and finish off with chunky statement necklaces on the bottom.

Hanging – If you’re going to hang your necklaces, do it with style. For example, use colored push pins and create an arrangement on your wall. Or, try something fun like knobs. You can use these inside your closet on an empty wall next to your bureau. This makes it easy to see what you have and to grab a necklace when you’re in a hurry or on the go.

Draped – If you have a small apartment or studio, try draping your necklaces over the bases of metal, glass or acrylic lamps. This creates a romantic look and adds some interest and personality to your lighting. You can also drape necklaces over picture frames or bulletin boards. The key is to keep your space looking stylish and whimsical without looking cluttered.

So instead of shoving your necklaces to the back of your jewelry box put them on display instead. You’ll love having everything at your fingertips and the room will feel a lot brighter too.

Fine me more at my blog Jewelry Style, and if you are a big fan of fabulous necklaces and cubic zirconia jewelry you could land on the blog to find what you want.

Cash in Your Gold to Pay Your Bills

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

I had heard of my friends and family talking about how they got money for gold jewellery that they had lying around in their drawers, but I never really did believe that you could get money for gold. Old jewellery has little value to me so I could not figure out how it is that I would be able to get money for this gold jewellery. Thankfully, my sister convinced me to stop being such a skeptic and to look into Money4Gold UK. I am glad that I did! I learned that you really can get money for gold through Money4Gold UK.

Though I found this to be a reality, I was still skeptical about the legitimacy of Money4Gold UK and wondered how getting money for gold really worked. My sister tried to explain how she got money for gold, but she is such a chatterbox that I was unable to listen to her for very long so I rang up Money4Gold UK instead and chatted with them. Money4Gold UK explained how I could get money for gold jewellery that I had, even if I believed that jewellery to be of little value. I learned that I could get a lot of money for gold in this current market because gold has retained its value through these tough financial times for the world. Even though many other forms of currency have lost their values worldwide, gold is at one of its highest values. Getting money for gold now is probably one of the wisest financial decisions that anyone could make because gold isn’t likely to go up much more in value from where it is. I found that I was likely to get more money for gold that I had now than I ever would be in the future. This, coupled with the fact that I needed cash, let me to Money4Gold UK.

After learning more about Money4Gold UK and learning that I really could get money for gold, I decided that I would get money for gold jewellery that I no longer wanted and sent away my gold. Money4Gold UK received my package with my jewellery nestled inside of it just a few days after I shipped it out. A few short days after that I received a cheque in the mail with the money for gold that I sent in! I was absolutely ecstatic when I saw just how much money for gold that I received. I have absolutely no regrets about sending my gold jewellery to Money4Gold UK. I do not miss the gold in the least. My only regret is that I waited so long to get money for gold jewellery that was collecting dust in my drawers and jewellery boxes.
